The Brush Rabbits Love Steph Curry

There’s a location I frequent where brush rabbits will consistently dart across the trail in front of you or sit munching on greens until a person gets within 4 feet. Not sure whether to call that overly trusting, overly confident or simply juvenile stupidity, but it happens.

This morning, I tried to get a photo. I slowly approached a rabbit that was sitting at the edge of the trail next to a bush. I got to about 20 feet away and just sat for about 5 minutes. The little guy could not have cared less about me. He/she feasted on some type of green that looked like arugula and then upon finishing the meal, rubbed his or her cheeks as if tired from over-eating, laid his head on his paws imitating Steph Curry’s night, night celebration and hopped into the bushes.

I researched rabbit behavior, and it turns out this is common. Rabbits often wash after eating by licking their paws and rubbing their faces, as seen in the image above. Interesting to know, but I still like the idea that these rabbits are just secret Steph Curry fans.
